Pennsylvania Herb & Garden Festival

today... me, the jelly bean, and two of my garden show loving friends headed into the Pennsylvania Herb Festival at the York Fairgrounds.

i'm not sure i'd call it a 'festival', but it was a nice small event with a good selection of vendors.

i was happy to see a lot of plants and came home with some great looking herb starts.

italian oregano • marjoram • flat leaf parsley • sage • dill • lemongrass • rosemary

can't tell you how thrilled i was to bring home that lemon grass, this was number one on my list to find while there. only two vendors had it.

also came home with these more expensive but super cool carnivorous plants...

the one on the left eats mosquitos, the one on the right eats lots of bugs, including STINK BUGS!  hoping i don't kill them, they seem pretty simple to care for.

keep in distilled or rain water • don't fertilize • likes sun • needs dormancy in winter

it's cold today, but tomorrow is going to be beautiful. i'll be working on more containers.

i also scored some handmade soaps [a big fav of mine] from local vendors...

this vendor is really close to home and her scents were very earthy with quite a few herby/floral scents and not overpowering.

so many of her bars smelled good enough to take a bite out of... so much so the labels came with a warning not to do so. :]

brought home three from soap extraordinare Tara [who also noted that she has a stand at Central Market House in downtown York]...

despite the old man exiting the building and professing how strongly disappointed he was in the show... we disagreed.

we found exactly what we wanted... herbs!
